WATER HEATERS NEED CLEANING FROM TIME TO TIME TOO

Did You Know That Traditional Water Heaters Need Cleaning Too?
Every day, the typical family or business relies on their water heaters, but too often we forget about the maintenance necessary to ensure that they are functioning properly and that they last as long as possible. For those with a more traditional water heater, one important part of hot water heater maintenance is cleaning and flushing out the tank. Water heater flushing helps to clear out sediments and minerals that build up. Doing this routinely will extend the lifespan of your water heater, help it work more efficiently, reduce the risk of clogs in your pipes and make your water heater safer. Given the importance of hot water heater flushing, today we’ll talk about some of the basics of this process so you can make it part of your maintenance routine.

When is Water Heater Cleaning Best?

Sediment and minerals naturally build up in your water heater over time. This is an inevitable part of the process of using your water heater and, as long as you regularly flush it out, this won’t lead to problems. However, if you don’t clean it out regularly, this buildup can create problems for your hot water heater and other plumbing systems throughout your home. We recommend that you clean your hot water heater at least once a year. An annual water heater flushing will help to keep your unit running properly and to help it last as long as possible.

Signs That it’s Time to Clean Your Water Heater

While you’ll want to clean your water heater at least once a year, there might be times when you need to clean it more often than that. Being aware of those signs will help you avoid a plumbing issue and avoid causing damage to your water heater. If you find that you’re getting less hot water from your tank, if you see sediment in the drain valve or if you hear a banging or rumbling sound from your water heater, it’s likely an indication that your water heater needs to be cleaned. If you notice any of these things, you should clean out your water heater as soon as possible.

When it’s Time to Install a New Water Heater
Even with routine maintenance, at some point, you’ll have to replace your water heater. Recognizing when you need to do this can help you avoid an outage, a plumbing emergency and water damage to your home. The average water heater lasts for about 10 to 12 years. If your water heater is more than 10 years old, you’ll want to be especially aware of any issues and address them as soon as possible. If you’re getting warm, but not hot water, if you’re getting cloudy water, if you hear banging or rumbling even after cleaning your water heater or if there’s rust in your water, it’s likely time to replace your hot water heater. If you see any of these signs, it’s best to have your hot water heater inspected. Recognizing when it’s time to replace your water heater could save you from some major plumbing headaches. We hope these tips will help you stay on top of your hot water heater maintenance.

And, if you haven’t recently done so, take a moment to check your water heater to ensure that everything looks, sounds and works properly. If you notice any problems or need to have your hot water heater serviced, or if you want to upgrade to a tankless water heater, call Anthony’s Plumbing today at (909) 823-3807.

Clean Your Drains The Green Method

Anthony's Plumbing

September 27, 2019 - Friday

CLEAN YOUR DRAINS THE GREEN METHOD
Whether it’s food particles and grease in the kitchen or hair in the bathroom, your drain is bound to get stopped up from time to time. Traditional drain cleaners are filled with toxic chemicals that can corrode your pipes and be harmful to your health. Anthony’s Plumbing has a few simple tricks to keep your drain flowing smooth while also being sensitive to the environment, and your wallet.

QUICK AND EASY
Bring roughly a gallon of water to a boil and slowly pour it down the drain, careful not to flood it. This is great for grease clogs and soap scum because the boiling water turns the solidified oils back into liquid and washes them down the pipe. For a little more power, add some salt to the boiling water before pouring.

HAIR IN THE DRAIN
You’ll want to unravel a wire hanger with needle nose pliers to create a slight hook at the tip. Feed the hanger down the drain, wiggle around all edges of the pipe, and pull it out. Clean the hair off and do it again, rinsing the drain with boiling water every so often.

PARTICLES IN THE PIPE
Clearing a stubborn kitchen or bathroom sink calls for a different approach – the plunger. The suction force of the pull is just as important as the flushing force of the push. Take care while plunging the kitchen sink as the unit does not have much support beneath.

When plunging the bathroom drains, make sure to remove any stoppers beforehand. If you are experiencing difficulty in creating a tight suction, apply petroleum jelly to the rim of the plunger for an airtight seal.

If these household remedies don’t fix the problem, it may be time to contact a professional. Anthony’s Plumbing is trained in diagnosing all your drain and pipe issues, no matter how big or small. Call us today at (909) 823-3807 or visit www.AnthonyPlumber.com online for more information.

YOUR LOCAL PLUMBERS

Need Local Plumbing Services?
Few people ever think they’ll have no choice but to call local plumbing services in Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, Rialto, or anywhere in the Inland Empire, for that matter. Even though plumbing is a crucial part of our homes and business offices, most people rarely pay any attention to it until there is some sort of plumbing emergency.  The problem is when something unexpected happens, few people have planned for what to do to address the emergency. Unfortunately, left with an expensive problem to fix, people worry about costs and whether or not they can rely on the plumbing company they call.

In the end, we all undervalue local plumbing services until we really need their help. The article below will explore the importance of local plumbers. If you need to speak with the best rated local plumbing service in the Inland Empire, Los Angeles or Riverside areas, contact Anthony’s Plumbing for help.

Importance of Hiring a Licensed Plumber
People will often turn to unregistered or unqualified plumbing contractors in an emergency in an attempt to save money. Unfortunately, hiring unlicensed, cheap plumbing repair services will leave you more exposed to problems in the future and can often cost you even more in the long run. Simply put, mistakes happen. In the event a plumbing repair is poorly done, you will end up being the one having to pay for any damage and future repairs. Why leave yourself vulnerable? Instead, look for professionally licensed plumbers in the area. Though it’s true that you can’t always anticipate a plumbing emergency, it’s important not to hire the cheapest plumbing services you can find. Though it may be a stressful and time-consuming search, the effort you put in will be critical to gaining a successful outcome and keeping yourself protected.

Finding Local Plumbing Services You Can Trust
So, how do you find a reputable, licensed plumber in the local area? Perhaps the easiest way is to use the internet and do a quick search for ‘plumbers near me’. It’s also helpful to ask people you know for referrals. Still, if you want someone that is reliable and 100% guaranteed, you should take some additional steps and ask the potential plumber some questions. When considering local plumbers, you should create a list of questions to ask them. This will help to ensure you are going with a knowledgeable, experienced option. The first question should be whether the plumber is going to charge anything for the initial plumbing repair assessment. Plumbing estimates should always be free of charge. Next, it’s important to determine that the plumbing company is legitimate. Ask the plumber to provide you with proof of their license and insurance. This is for your protection and can help to eliminate unlicensed plumbing contractors from taking advantage of your emergency.
